Woodworking Tooling Enhancement Technology

Our mission statement:

"Tomorrow’s lubrication technology today" is where we started in 1994. Today it is about the innovation of environmentally friendly lubrication solutions for cutting and grinding applications in an ever-changing global market place.

Mr. Timothy Goldberg founded Empire Manufacturing Inc. in 1996.

In 1991, Tim worked for Sandaro Industries. He was instrumental in handling the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. During his tenure at Sandaro, Tim helped design and manufactur the essential equipment for Sandaro’s Teflon® technology used in all Sandaro products such as:

  • Top Cote
  • Dri Cote
  • Bearing Lubricant
  • Speed Cote
  • Arms Cote
  • Bore Cote
  • PAT Lube

Tim also took part in developing the Auto-Cote automated lubrication dispensing system. The Auto-Cote system was used to deliver Sandaro’s industrial solvent-based Teflon® lubricant onto wood processing tooling in production environments.

In 1993 the assets of Sandaro Industries were purchased by the French international oil company TOTAL. TOTAL soon thereafter dismantled Sandaro’s infrastructure and manufacturing division and infused it into Bostik, which is a subsidiary of TOTAL. Bostik, located in Massachusetts, and is one of the industry leaders in the manufacturing of adhesives and other products such as: Never-Seez along with many other products for the tile and stone industry.

Tim decided to join Bostik as a Technical Service Manager and assisted the Bostik management team with the integration of Sandaro products. Tim had become an authority in the Sandaro line of products and worked hands on with Bostik’s industrial distributors conducting technical training seminars around the United States.

Tim, weary from his east coast commutes, departed Bostik in early 1994. He then teamed up with a group of engineers and started manufacturing computer-aided equipment for food packaging.

In the summer of 1994, at the request of several wood processing machinery manufactures, Tim began continuing what they had started in the area of wood processing tooling enhancement. As luck would have it, Tim was building relationships with companies that were the industry leaders in the manufacturing of finger jointing systems and thin kerf saw blades. Also, several large wood component manufactures such as: Anderson Windows, Western Machinery Group, Industrial Machinery, Sierra Pacific Industries, Weathershield Manufacturing, Mereen-Johnson Machine Company and Super Thin Saws.

Today, Empire’s technical staff comprises of more than a half century of engineering and chemistry expertise. Our engineering team developed Empire’s pulse lubrication delivery technology and intergraded it into the Empire Lube System. We now offer several models of Empire Lube systems to fit many types of automated wood machining equipment for the primary and secondary wood processing industry.

Empire’s chemistry department headed up by our PhD Chemist, has developed the Empire lubrication technology with our polymer lubricants to be environmentally friendly. Our lubrication technology has benefited many manufactures allowing them to increase profits by lowering daily operational costs while producing higher quality products. Due to enhancing the performance of their cutting tools in applications where standard lubrication products could not be used.

Today the Empire tooling enhancement technology is currently used in many areas of the wood processing industry, such uses include: manufacturing of windows and doors, moulding, millwork, wooden mini blinds, furniture, fine cabinetry and pallets. Our technology is also used in engineered wood products like MDF Moldings, LVL laminated veneer lumber, finger jointed flooring I-Joist and wooden studs for building projects.

With the new millennium approaching, the Empire team, along with the assistance from other founding members of Sandaro, embraced the task of bringing the Empire tooling enhancement industrial technology down to the commercial and home woodworker. This was accomplished with the creation of our (OTC) over the counter packaged products, WCL® Wood Cutting Lubricant and RBL™ Router Bit Lubricant.

This year at the 2001 AWFS in Anaheim Ca., Empire introduced the next generation in the over the counter products. Our new products were created with the home wood worker and the commercial tradesman in mind. We focused on the troublesome issues that tradesman and hobbyist face with the care of their cutting tools. We also focused on concerns of working with exotic woods, Non-ferrous metals like aluminum and brass also tile and masonry products

Our New Products are:

  • OptiSlide™ is a table top conditioning material to prevent binding and hang ups on table saw tops.
  • OptiShield™ is a tooling surface protectant anti corrosion/ rust preventive for wood working tooling.
  • OptiCut-XL™ is a premium cutting lubricant for wood working applications.
  • OptiCut-NF™ is a metal working lubricant for working with non-ferrous metals.
  • OptiCut-SS™ is a specialized lubricant for working with Solid Surface materials.
  • OptiCut-TL™ is a specialized lubricant for masonry cutting applications.

Anyone who has ever worked with Empire's superior line of cutting tool enhancement products, whether it be professional, industrial, commercial craftsman, or even the home hobbyist, they can all appreciate the technical assistance and ongoing customer service that Empire provides its customers. We feel that we offer a service that is often disregarded by other companies. Empire prides itself on its ability to offer detailed technical assistance on all facets of cutting tool enhancement technology. We are firm in our commitment to supply you, our customer, with the finest products for any cutting application.
